Are the Bromance Boys Crying too Easily?

The whole Bromance idea is borderline weird, but it’s actually an interesting idea to take the female BFF concept and turn it into a guy version. The ideas done well so far – and the Bro-athalon was a hit. Truly “bro-ish” stuff.

But what’s up with all the tears over nothing?

Both Jered and Femi broke into tears during their talks with Brody, which isn’t terrible – it’s ok for guys to cry. But they weren’t crying because a loved one passed away a day before they left for the show, or because their girlfriend had just broken up with them. Instead, Jered was crying because he just moved to Florida and his family hasn’t visited him yet, and Femi was teary eyed because he got suspended from school in the past.

Now, don’t get me wrong, those aren’t the best situations in the world – but they just aren’t gut-wrenching to make “bros” cry on national television. Getting suspended sucks, but you don’t cry over it years later. Usually you laugh looking back at those situations.

Don’t want to be too hard on these guys though – reality show producers have a way of getting contestants in the mood for whatever shot they’re trying to film. Much easier to tear up staring into a fire, isn’t it?
